Dear Readers,

The Discreet Traveler has been at it again. I got some reader feedback (!) requesting tips on safe travels, and was happy to add those. Many of my recommendations are common sense or you'll have picked them up yourself, but in this age of paranoia, it's helpful to remember that with a few sensible precautions, most trips go very smoothly.

I also wrote an imaginary conversation mediating between the generation before me--the Baby Boomers who continue to rule us--and the younger people just coming up to voting age. It has only occurred to me recently that my generation is in a unique position to understand both.
